Peak Claims regularly provides services as marine surveyors for heavy equipment in the Bakken Oil Region, and throughout the Mountain Time Zone. In this file, we examined a Kenworth T-800 Truck Body which had been modified to include a Vactor HXX Hydro-Suction Excavation system. The equipment houses a 5,000 CFM positive discharge (“PD”) blower, and other related components. Damages were found to the majority of equipment related components on the passenger side, as expected, with minor damage to the passenger side body of the truck. This file is unique because the insured had to previous experience handling such losses and no internal risk management department to assist in the process. Peak Claims provided assistance arranging services to help mitigate the damages.
Our instructions were to determine whether the amount of damages were “fair and reasonable” concerning an incident where the truck rolled in route to service on an icy road. The cause and origin of this loss was undisputed. Our assignment was made on behalf of Lloyd’s Affiliated Underwriters and is still in progress at this time, as we await documentation regarding the extent of damages which could not be determined at our survey.
In this file, we appear as marine surveyors, but the term heavy equipment adjusters may be interchanged to address the same type of loss.
This file is still in progress and this post will be updated when information can appropriately be amended. The photograph in this post depicts the insured equipment surveyed on behalf of Underwriters and our client. A total of 46 photographs were obtained to help document this loss.
